Last January, Bandai Namco dropped the best Dragon Ball game ever in Dragon Ball FighterZ. Despite a diverse 24 character roster, fans were quick to point out a few notable omissions. Since then, a few downloadable characters have come to 3 vs 3 brawler, including Zamasu, Broly, Bardock, and Vegito. But their next additions will be going back to basics.
Today the Japanese manga and video game magazine V Jump (via Silicon Era) announced Base Goku and Base Vegeta are coming to FighterZ in August. Each are listed for 500 yen, presumably to be $5 in the United States. As their names imply, these versions will feature the moves and abilities from the early episodes of Dragon Ball Z.
Base Goku's signature Kaioken technique greatly enhances his combo, which can be progressively increases as his teammates are defeated. And the new Super Spirit Bomb is apparently the most powerful single attack in the entire game though it's slow speed makes it easy for adversaries to avoid.
Meanwhile Base Vegeta's Galaxy Breaker will surround his body his body with a strong energy, though it's exact purpose was not detailed. The Galick Gun projectile super attack creates a diagonal slice across the screen, as Vegeta can prefrom the blast while airborne.
This brings the grand total of Goku and Vegeta variations to eight. Though each contain their own move sets, personalities, and team function, they now account for nearly a third of the entire roster.
In related news, an open beta for the Nintendo Switch port of Dragon Ball Fighterz will kick off in auguest, ahead of it's September 28 release date.
